Reflections 2025
For many of us, January is a time to look forward. A time to set goals, a time to make plans. Here at Parable Media we usually take advantage of the quiet of early January to do just that, but for us, looking forward also requires first looking backwards. Reflecting on how God has moved in and through us throughout the last year. Celebrating the ways in which we have grown and the experiences we had. So we wanted to take a little bit of time to reflect and celebrate, and to invite you to join us.
Sharing Stories.
Throughout 2025 many different churches, ministers, and Christian nonprofit organizations trusted us to share their stories. This resulted in us working on 205 different projects throughout the year! As you can imagine we don’t have the space here to write about all of those stories, so instead we’ll focus on just one.
In our Annual Report, Deanna wrote about her experience interviewing Willie King, so I think it is fitting I tell my side of that story as well. Over the summer we had a team of people (myself included) working at the CBF General Assembly in St. Louis. While we were there, one of the leaders at CBF asked if we would be available to record Willie King, a former secretary of Martin Luther King Jr., at one of their partner churches in Maryland. I first did a double take—who were we to be trusted with a story of this magnitude—and then of course I said we would love to record her.
After about a month of coordinating logistics for the shoot, we were on our way to Maryland in mid-August. When we arrived at the church we were warmly greeted by Pastor Emmitt who invited us in, showed us around, and introduced us to Mrs. King and her sister. After the worship service we began the interview, and it was an amazing experience to be there listening to the stories Mrs. King had to share. It was a deeply impactful experience and one neither me nor Deanna will ever forget. If you want to watch the full interview, you can do so here.
Inspiring Action.
In the spring of 2025 we were approached by One Christian Network (located in Wilmington, NC) to partner with them to create a video to help bring attention to the housing affordability crisis in the Wilmington area, and to offer tangible ways for people to become involved to help solve this crisis. We spent a couple of days in Wilmington conducting interviews and recording b-roll as we learned more about the crisis ourselves and saw how several different non-profit organizations and churches were working together to help with housing affordability. We hope this video can continue to serve as an invitation for people to join in and support more affordable housing for people at every income level. You can watch the video here.
Over the second half of the year we were able to partner with Campbell University Divinity School on their Empowering Families for Spiritual Formation initiative. Specifically, we were asked to record a podcast for them to help equip and encourage families to experience regular, substantive, holistic, family-centered spiritual formation. We had a blast recording five full episodes of the podcast and five additional “mini-sodes” geared more towards children. We hope this podcast helps families to do the work of spiritual formation together. Their goal is to release the podcast over the first part of this year, so be on the lookout!
Creating Community.
We are extremely thankful for everyone who is a part of the Parable Media community—it is through you that we are able to continue to do what God has called us to do. Throughout 2025 we were able to serve 31 churches and denominational organizations, 21 Christian organizations and ministers, and 2 different Divinity Schools. 17 of these amazing communities connected with us for the very first time this year, and our reach continued to extend outside of North Carolina, including trips to Missouri, Maryland, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Georgia.
We also want to recognize our amazing network of videographers, photographers, designers, and AV specialists. Each one of them does an amazing job with the work we ask them to do, and they do so in a way that respects both the story and the often worshipful environment we find ourselves in. Without them we would not have had the capacity to continually say yes to the stories we are asked to share.
We also want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who supported us financially over the course of this year. Our mission is to provide every ministry the option of affordable, high quality digital media services, and we are able to do that in large part thanks to the donations we receive. Those donations allow us to cover things like ever increasing equipment costs which allows us to maintain the highest level of quality in the content we produce. It also allows us to keep our costs low enough to work with many organizations that otherwise wouldn’t really have any other quality options. Your donations make a huge impact on many different ministries and communities, so thank you for your continued support.
2025 has been an amazing year full of growth and new connections, and we are excited to see the ways in which God works for us, with us, and through us next year and beyond.
Thanks be to God.
